At Wimbledon Dental Wellness, we practice what is known as functional or holistic dentistry.

This means that we focus on the overall health of our patients to promote their whole-body wellbeing.

Our holistic 360-degree approach to dentistry means that we treat each of our patients as individuals, taking into account their full medical health and social history as well as their dental history. It has become increasingly clear that dental health has a direct impact on our overall health and wellbeing. For example, gum disease and abscesses can cause illnesses elsewhere in the body and there is even a connection between gum disease and a greater risk of heart disease and complications with pregnancy.

It is also clear that using substances such as mercury that can cause damage elsewhere in the body and can have a detrimental effect on the overall health of the patient. Our aim is to avoid and prevent this wherever possible, which is why instead of focusing on each individual dental health problem, we focus on the whole patient as an individual.

Our holistic approach means that we are passionate about preventive care and as such we always look for ways to treat the root cause of any dental or oral health issue that may be present. Instead of presenting our patients with treatments that may only fix a problem temporarily for a few years, our aim is to always diagnose the root cause of the problem and treat that as well.
