Implant Retained Dentures

Like traditional and cosmetic dentures, implant retained dentures can be used to replace either a full arch of teeth or a partial arch. But whilst traditional and cosmetic dentures are removable and rest on top of the bone, implant retained dentures are held in place by a set of implants.

Implant retained dentures offer the patient a more stable and secure alternative to more traditional, removable dentures. Because of this, they can also help maintain the facial structure which in turn can help keep us looking younger for longer. Patients also often report a more comfortable experience than with traditional dentures. Implant retained dentures cannot slip or move around in the mouth, making them much more comfortable and leaving patients feeling more confident and secure.

As with most implants, the treatment journey for implant retained dentures takes several months. We must first find out if you are a suitable candidate for the treatment, following which you will return to the practice a few times to have your implant retained dentures fitted. There will be a wait of usually three months in between fitting the implants and fitting the prosthetic teeth. This is so the implants and the bone can properly fuse together. During this time we will provide temporary dentures.
